Jerusalem, March 21 - in a split along gender lines, a nice justice conference of the Israeli Supreme court decided that home-care assistants, who are non-Israeli citizens on work visas, are exempt from labor laws.
The decisions will affect tens of thousands, mostly female, Filipino, home-care nurse assistants.
Justice Arbel (female): "Conditions, where a laborer works 24 hours a day, 6 or 7 days a week, continuously, is unacceptable in modern society".
[not sure what kind of labor or societal standard is "modern" - jz ]
